Plain-language summary

One executive-function research framework is built but not validated with real users, and its preliminary five-page user-research plan is now published. One Music × EEG pilot is still being designed. None of these materials is a clinical test or an effectiveness result.

Task Initiation & Existing Tool Research

Research question

What blocks task initiation across school, work, and home, and where do existing executive-function tools support organisation without helping users begin?

Method

Desk research, a semi-structured interview plan, a structured tool-evaluation rubric, feedback-theme codebook, data dictionary, and reproducible R Markdown analysis scaffold.

Current material

A five-page preliminary research plan is published below. It maps three broad participant groups, four starting sources, five proposed research gaps, and seven interview questions. The evaluation framework and analysis structure are also complete.

Limitation

The plan is a scoping document, not a validated study. Its claims about gaps in digital tools still need a broader evidence review; mock rows and planning materials are not user findings or evidence that a tool works.

Exploratory Music × EEG protocol

Research question

How do music conditions relate to task engagement, performance, and self-reported experience across individuals?

Measures considered together

Behavioural task performance, brief self-report, condition notes, and exploratory EEG features. No single measure is treated as ground truth.

Ethics boundary

Voluntary participation, age-appropriate consent, withdrawal without penalty, data minimisation, de-identification, and a protocol for incidental distress.

What EEG cannot establish

It cannot read thoughts, diagnose ADHD or autism, directly measure “attention,” or prove a universal or personal optimum from a small pilot.
